Jillian is a 22-year-old, queer artist based in Bellingham, WA. She works predominantly in acrylic, gouache and watercolors, when painting.
Growing up in Bellingham, she was surrounded by endless inspirations for her art; from the mountains to the oceans and the forests in between. Animals, flowers, plants, celestials, and fungi are her favorite subject matters.
Before creating each of her pieces, she researches the subject matter and carefully plans the process. She aims to create whimsical, but believable, landscapes and creatures that also accurately evoke the feelings and emotions associated with each idea.
At the heart of each of her pieces is emotion and feeling, and she uses natural symbolism to capture and depict those feelings on paper. She works to create art that is not only an extension of herself, but also an extension of the people around her. Jillian wants the people who see her pieces to feel joy and to connect with the subject matter on that fundamental level. She believes that emotion (especially joy) is universally felt across nature.
Her hope is to bring a little more joy into life with her paintings.
